We are heading to the British Shooting Show 2026 at the NEC as press this year. It is easy to treat it as a day out or a shopping trip, but for us it is more useful than that. It is a chance to get a read on what the wider industry is talking about, what is genuinely new to the market, and which conversations are worth having before the season drags everyone back into their own local rhythm.
We are also looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. A lot of the value in these shows sits in the people, not just the products.
Who we want to meet and talk to
As press this year, the intention is not to walk past every stand. It is to have a few good conversations.
We want to speak with retailers who understand professional use, not just sales. The people who know what fails, what returns, and what customers are actually using in the field rather than what looks good on a shelf.
We also want to catch up with training providers and organisations who are shaping the standards conversation. Not in a political sense, but in a practical sense. What is changing. What is being asked of people on the ground. What is becoming normal on public-facing contracts.
And we want to meet manufacturers who are willing to talk honestly about real-world use, not just specs. If something has been improved, we want to know why, and what problem it was actually solving.
A simple aim for the day
We are going in with an open mind and a short list of priorities.
- Find out what is genuinely new, what is simply rebranded, and what is quietly becoming the next normal.
- Learn what people outside our South East circles are talking about, so we are not surprised later.
- Catch up with familiar faces, meet new ones, and come away with a handful of conversations that actually sharpen how we work.
If you are attending and there is a brand, stand or person you think we should speak to, send it over. We would rather have five useful conversations than fifty forgettable ones.
